Simply put, “Making Memories & Creating Traditions” will be a group of posts this holiday season offering ideas with the sole purpose of doing exactly that: making memories and creating traditions with your loved ones. It’s important to step back from the craziness of the holidays – and life – and do something together that will always be treasured, and possibly start a new annual tradition. Sappy sounding? Sure. Sentimental? In the best way. Will it be worth it? You betcha. Cheers!
Symbolizing good fortune and good wishes, floating lanterns make for a great activity during the holiday season or welcoming the new year. Yes. It will require everyone to bundle up and head to a safe location for the release. But with friends and family at your side, seeing the lanterns float away in the sky will be worth it. Not only will this create a lasting memory, especially with the younger ones, but hopefully the start of a great tradition. (And once the lanterns are released, pull out some cookies and warm beverages to enjoy on the ride – or walk – home.)

I have always wanted to do this! Do you know how to make a floating lantern or where to buy them?

I’ve found them on Amazon – and it’s worth looking at the reviews (with a grain of salt). If you happen to be near an International District with strong Asian businesses, it’s worth searching for the lanterns and supporting the small businesses. Good luck and glad you enjoyed the post!
